Advise patients to take AMBIEN when they're capable of staying in bed for an entire night (7-8 hours) before getting up to work or for other activities, and not to consume it in conjunction alongside food. The patient should avoid drinking any alcohol the evening before or immediately prior to taking AMBIEN.

Patients with mild to moderate or moderate hepatic impairments do not get rid of AMBIEN as rapidly as normal subjects. Patients who are hepatically impaired should be given reduced doses (see DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION for use in specific populations].
